Connie Can Crop October Monthly Challenge #3

I completed a one page layout for Connie Can Crop's Monthly challenge.  The requirements are to create a card or layout using the color orange and purple or black twine.  I do not own ANY twine, so one of my lovely co-workers let me have embroidery thread, which could be used instead of twine.

My parents, aunt, and uncle just returned from a trip to Amish country in Ohio.  Having grown up on a small farm, my dad was in heaven.  One of the many souveneirs my parents came home with was an Amish made black bench that my mom is using outside as part of her fall decorations.  My mom decorates for fall for as long as I can remember.  Because my parents live off of a major highway, trick-or-treaters do not make that yearly visit.  But my mom still decorates - luminaries, pumpkins, mums, hay, scarecrow, etc.  So the bench fits right in.  I decided to make a one page layout to show off her love of fall.

Now I want my own Amish made bench, but I don't see myself making a trip to any Amish country any time soon.  I did go to a flea market a few weeks ago trying to find a ladder back chair to use for a display very similar to my mom's.  Well, no such luck.  But my dad gave me a chair from my parent's first dining room set.  My dad feels that everything can be upcycled, so he keeps EVERYTHING.  For once, I benefitted from it.  We are heading to the pumpkin patch this weekend.  Hopefully I'll have my fall decoration set up soon.

Materials used:
brown paper from my stash
orange checkered paper - k i Memories Classic Prints Paper Pad
purple embroidery thread
scarecrow sticker from my stash
Flora Doodle Handmade Flowers

Til next time,
Melissa
